A wonderful exhibit of thirty fresh, unframed oil paintings from the venerable Columbia artist Frank Stack. Since 1963, when he started teaching at the MU Art Department, Frank Stack has been an inspiration and mentor to countless artists. Long before Orr Street Studios and the North Village Arts District existed, Frank was cultivating the local art scene through his generosity, quiet enthusiasm, and tireless teaching. Among his many contributions is the establishment of the Saturday morning live model drawing and painting session that has been attended by literally hundreds of young artists and which is still operating today. Through his encyclopedic command of art history, his formidable output of paintings, watercolors, etchings, lithographs, graphic novels and comics, and his studios at Orr Street and Grind Stone Lithography Workshop, Frank has become an enduring, respected and beloved presence in the Columbia art scene.
Orr Street Studios is honored to host this exhibit of the internationally renowned, Columbia-based artist, Frank Stack.
