PhotoVision 2018


Call for entries, competition and exhibition

Photo Vision is a juried, open themed photography exhibition and 

competition free and open to Professional and Non-Professional 

Photographers 18 and over living in Mid-MO.  The exhibition will be on 

display at Orr Street Studios October 5-October 27. Winners will be 

announced at a reception and juror’s talk on Thursday,Oct 4, 7-9pm

 

Cash prizes totalling $1000 will be awarded for three winners from each of the two divisions in addition to honorable mentions 

as the judge desires.  Non-Professional awards:  First Place: $200, Second Place: $125, Third Place: $85,  Professional awards:

First Place: $275, Second Place: $190, Third Place: $125

 

This year’s juror is Elijah Gowin. Elijah uses photography to speak about landscape and the human experience in moments of 

spiritual and physical transition. He was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1967 and received his MFA in Photography from the University of 

New Mexico. His photographs are in the collection of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the 

Center for Creative Photography, among others.  His awards include the John S. Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008 as well as grants 

from the Charlotte Street Foundation and the Puffin Foundation. He founded Tin Roof Press to publish his books on art and 

photography including “Maggie”  in 2009 and his monograph "Of Falling and Floating" in 2011. Presently, he is a Professor in the 

Department of Art and Art History at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he directs photographic studies.  Gowin is

Submit ONE original work of photography (color, black and white or special process). Space is limited, not all work 

submitted is expected to be displayed.  Pieces should be ready for display (WITH SECURE HANGING WIRE, NO SAWTOOTH 

HANGERS, will be accepted) Work should be labeled on the back with artist’s name, email, title of work, and price.
