Photo Vision 2017

Photo Vision is a juried, open themed photography exhibition and competition free and open to Professional and Non-Professional photographers 18 years of age or older living in Mid-MO.  The exhibition will be on display at Orr Street Studios September 28-October 28, 2017. Winners will be announced at a reception and artist talk on Saturday, Sept 30 7-9pm.

Cash prizes totalling $1000 will be awarded for three winners from each of the two divisions in addition to honorable mentions as the judge desires.  Non-Professional awards:  First Place: $200, Second Place: $125, Third Place: $85,  Professional awards:First Place: $275, Second Place: $190, Third Place: $125

Submission dates: Friday Sept 22 12-5:00 and Saturday Sept 23 12-3:00 at 106 Orr Street, Studio ONe-N

.This year’s juror is Elise Kirk. Elise Kirk is a photographic artist and visual storyteller whose recent work explores mythologies of place in her native Midwest. She grew up in mid-Missouri, studied documentary film at Columbia College Chicago (BA ’00), investigated representations of the family in Spanish cinema on a Fulbright grant in Madrid(’01), and, after a career in nonfiction television production, completed her MFA in photography at Rhode Island School of Design (’15). Her photographic work has exhibited nationally including at ClampArt in Chelsea, the Center for Photography at Woodstock, the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins and the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle, as well as in numerous on-line and print publications. She is now based in Lawrence, Kansas, where she is Assistant Professor of Photo Media at the University of Kansas.

Submit up to two original works of photography (color, black and white or special process). Space is limited, please keep that in mind.  While there are no specific size limitations, we make every effort to accommodate and hang as many entries as possible, though not all work submitted is expected to be displayed.  Pieces should be ready for display (WITH SECURE HANGING WIRE, NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS, will be accepted)  Any photographic process or printed substrate is accepted if it is WIRED FOR HANGING and labeled on the back with artist’s name, email, phone number, title of work, and price.
